Delhi Daredevils were deflated and demoralised. They were spectacular on the field after opting to bowl against Gujarat Lions: first Rishabh Pant took a smart catch behind the stumps to see the back of Brendon McCullum before Shahbaz Nadeem swooped in on the ball to catch Dwayne Smith short of the crease. However, that was the last bit of joy for the hosts for the next 12 overs at the Feroz Shah Kotla as Suresh Raina (77) and Dinesh Karthik (65) ponded them to gather 130 runs. It took another direct hit, this time from Kagiso Rabada, to get rid of Raina. But Karthik was still a massive danger. That onslaught was stopped thanks to a mind-numbing catch by Corey Anderson.BCCI PhotoPat Cummins’ slower one tempted Karthik to clear mid-off but he did not really time the lofted shot. Anderson waited in his position, timed his jump to perfection and plucked off the ball out of thin air to dismiss Karthik.Sunil Gavaskar, who was on air at the time, was impressed with the “jaw-dropping” stuff. It’s not easy to impress the legendary Gavaskar but that catch, even though it looked it, was anything was easy.Anderson was on fire for Delhi only two nights back as he top-scored with an unbeaten 41 to guide them home against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.
