Special Development Zone to Provide Community Tools to Support New Eielson AFB

first_imgAlaska officials this week designated the city of North Pole as the state’s first military facility zone in an effort to spur private infrastructure development needed to accommodate 3,256 uniformed personnel, civilian employees, and family members projected to accompany the arrival of two squadrons of F-35A Lightning IIs at Eielson AFB in 2020. The designation offers developers priority review status for existing infrastructure financing programs from the Alaska Housing Finance Corp. and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, according to a release from the office of Gov. Bill Walker. It also allows the city to provide partial or full property tax relief for up to 10 years to developers for infrastructure that benefits the installation.Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
